Tigh Neachtain
One of the oldest and most unique pubs in Galway City, Tigh Neachtain is located on Cross Street. Enjoy your drink in the privacy of one of the old snugs, and listen to the traditional music sessions which take place here regularly in the evenings.
Taylor's
Situated on Upper Dominick St., Taylor's is another popular, traditional style pub. Taylor's hold live music sessions on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Enjoy the traditional Irish pub atmosphere, and some of the "craic".
King's Head
Another old and much loved pub, the King's Head is located on High Street. Although extended in 1996, this pub retains its traditional ambience and character, emphasised by its flagstone floor and cosy fireplaces. The King's Head is also a cultural hub, with regular lunchtime theatre performances, Sunday Jazz sessions, and nightly music sessions.
Fibber Magees
Situated on Eyre Square, Fibber Magees is a relatively new pub, popular with students, and those under 25. Fibber Magees also offers regular drinks promotions and cocktail happy hours.
Monroe's Tavern
Well known in Galway as a venue for up and coming rock and pop bands, Monroe's always offers visitors a relaxed atmosphere and an excellent night out. Although best known as a venue for rock bands, Monroe's also caters for those interested in other musical styles, with Irish dancing nights held on Tuesday nights.

Club Cuba
Located in the heart of Galway City, on Eyre Square, Club Cuba offers 3 floors of different musical styles, an incredible atmosphere, and plenty of pulse-raising beats. The club also regularly features live music acts, and its wide ranging booking policy means that it is advisable to check local listings and newspapers (such as The List and the Galway Advertiser) before going.
GPO
Galway's longest standing nightclub, The GPO, is located on Eglington Street. Playing plenty of 80's tunes, funk, ska and soul, as well as featuring occasional live bands, the GPO attracts a lively studenty crowd. The GPO also features a Sunday night comedy club.
Liquid
Located in Salthill, only one mile outside of the city centre, Liquid is another excellent Galway night spot. Live gigs are regularly held at Liquid, and the club's music policy is quite varied - Wednesdays feature an indie night, Thursdays is funk night, and various styles from commercial dance to 70's disco are on offer on various floors on weekend nights.
